five Steps to a Successful Hair Transplant

Hair transplantation surgery is more popular than ever, but with all the different advertisements for hair transplants out there, it can be easy to forget that the procedure is actually much more complicated than people think. At The Griffin Center of Hair Restoration and Research, our experienced team has been performing hair transplantation surgery on men and women from all over the world for forty years.

Our expert hair restoration surgeons Dr. Edmond Griffin and Dr. Ashley Curtis understand the level of care and attention to detail that is required at each and every stage of the process. In an effort to help patients understand the various steps that are necessary for a truly successful hair transplantation procedure, we have put together a brief breakdown of The Griffin Center process.

Consultation

successful-hair-transplantThe first step in any hair restoration plan should always be a thorough and comprehensive hair loss diagnosis. There are many different forms of hair loss and many different medical conditions that can affect their treatment, so each patient needs to be evaluated carefully in order to determine the medications or procedures that will best serve their specific, individual needs.

Harvesting

No matter if the healthy hair follicles for transplantation are removed all at once with follicular unit grafting (commonly known as the strip method) or one at a time using follicular unit extraction (FUE) techniques, tremendous care must be taken to preserve the integrity of the grafts. If they are damaged during the removal process, grafts will fail to thrive in their new locations.

Dissection

Once the donor follicles are removed, they must be carefully dissected and sorted under a powerful binocular microscope. Hair follicles naturally grow in clusters of one, two, three, or even four follicles, and while some doctors may chop up these follicular unit groups so they can boast higher numbers, keeping them intact improves survivability and allows for more natural looking hair transplant results.

Implantation

The real key to a truly natural looking hair transplant is in the placement and angling of the grafts. An individual’s hair growth pattern is as unique as a fingerprint and only a highly skilled and experienced surgeon can properly angle the necessary incisions and place the follicular unit grafts so that they blend seamlessly with that natural pattern.

Maintenance

Hair loss is usually progressive and hair transplantation only moves healthy hair follicles into thinning areas; it does not prevent further hair loss from occurring. Non-surgical hair loss treatments, including prescription medication, platelet rich plasma, or red light laser therapy, should be combined into a comprehensive, long-term maintenance plan that helps slow or prevent further hair loss and preserve your hair transplantation results.

10 Things to consider before having a hair transplant

Having a hair transplant is a big decision for a number of reasons.  The cost of a high quality hair transplant can be a significant outlay for many people and understandably so. A bad hair transplant can have major long-term detrimental effects on the patient, both psychological and physical. Despite the claims of some clinics, there is no such thing as a non-surgical method of carrying out a hair transplant. A hair transplant is an elective surgery.

With this in mind, what are the important things to consider before having a hair transplant?

Do you need a hair transplant?

Nobody needs a hair transplant, it is elective surgery. If your hair loss is causing you concern, speak to an expert. They will talk you through your treatment options.

The cause of your hair loss

There are many causes of hair loss but, in the overwhelming majority of men experiencing hair loss, the cause is hereditary Androgenetic Alopecia, more commonly known as “male pattern baldness”. Hair transplant surgery is a permanent treatment for Androgenetic Alopecia.

Your age

It is important that the hair loss pattern is established before surgery is undertaken. Therefore, young men under 25 are often offered medical treatment initially, which usually proves very effective.

The second factor determined by a patient’s age is how it influences the hair transplant design. A patient suffering from pattern hair loss will continue to lose their non-transplanted hair throughout their lifetime. That’s a crucial factor to consider when it comes to designing a natural and undetectable hair transplant.

Alternatives to hair transplant surgery

Medical treatment is available for hair loss. There are two US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved medications which have proven effective as a hair loss treatment in more than 80% of male users with hair loss.

How medical hair loss treatments work

This treatment is effective but not permanent. When you stop taking the medication, your hair loss will resume.

Cost of a hair transplant

The cost of carrying out a quality hair transplant is considerable, as the process requires a team of highly skilled medical staff and technicians. There may be up to 18 technicians, nurses and surgeons working on each patient during a hair transplant procedure. There is no low-cost method of providing this level of expertise. Therefore, if the cost of a hair transplant is the principal factor guiding your decision about whether or not to have the surgery, we strongly advise that you consider the medical treatments instead. Having an inferior quality hair transplant carried out can have serious, negative and long-term consequences.

The skill and experience of your hair transplant surgeon

Hair transplant design is crucial to achieving an undetectable hair transplant. The skill and experience of your surgeon in this process is vital to a successful outcome. The degree of scarring you will experience in the donor area following a hair transplant will be determined by your body’s own ability to heal, the technique used to extract the grafts, and the skill of the surgeon. Learn more about the importance of hair transplant design.

The type of surgery – FUT or FUE

The difference between FUT and FUE is essentially the way the donor hair being transplanted is removed from the patient’s scalp. For many patients the optimal treatment plan would involve the use of both techniques over the patient’s life. Before you make a decision as to what technique you wish to choose, a consultation with a properly qualified consultant surgeon is essential. Find out more about the difference between FUT and FUE.

What are the complications or risks of the surgery

Hair transplant surgery is an extremely safe out-patient procedure that is normally without significant risks or complications. Find out more about the complications and risks of hair transplant surgery.

How soon after surgery can I return to work?

Depending on the type of procedure you have done and type of work you do, it is often possible to go back to work within a few days. Most of our patients return to work after about 3 days. Your surgeon will confirm this at your consultation.

What is the success rate of hair transplant surgery?

In a non-smoker between 95-98% of the grafts will grow successfully provided the highest international standards of surgery are used in the transplant procedure, such as those used at HRBR. At HRBR our studies have shown that 98% of all the grafts we place will eventually grow normal hair.

7 steps to a heavenly wedding

From your first contact with us to your first anniversary and beyond, we’re here for you at every step.
Most church weddings follow a similar planning pattern, Black Lingerie , which typically has seven simple steps. Your vicar will help and advise along the way:-

Find a church

Find your local church and the vicar’s contact details. If you want to marry in a different church, read more to find out how that might be possible.

Call the vicar

Let your vicar know your good news as soon as you can and the three of you can fix a time to discuss what happens next.

Space to think

Before your wedding, your vicar may invite you to an event to help prepare you for married life together. Many couples appreciate the time and space to think about the vows and the difference they will make.

Banns

Banns are announcements in church of your intention to marry and a chance for anyone to put forward a reason why the marriage may not lawfully take place. On these occasions, everyone in your church will also be praying for you. It can be very special and moving, so do go along if you can.

Rehearsal

Near your wedding day, perhaps a day or two before, you will usually have the opportunity to rehearse the ceremony with those who are involved.

The Big Day

Your vicar will do all he or she can to make the day a personal, meaningful and spiritual experience for you and your guests.

First anniversary and beyond

Your local church will always be there for you throughout your marriage if you need it. Even if your local church is not the place where you married, they would be delighted to mark your first anniversary by praying for you both. All you have to do is ask.

How to Build Muscle and Burn Fat at the Same Time

The twin goals of building muscle and burning fat are usually tied to workout routines. ibutamoren for sale , After all, what you do in the gym or outdoors goes a long way toward transforming your body into a lean, fat-burning machine.

But training regimens usually account for two hours or less of your 24-hour day. What you do during the other 22-plus hours has as much if not more impact. Here are seven ways to build muscle and burn fat—inside and outside the gym.

Pete Williams Opens a New Window. is a NASM-certified personal trainer and the author or co-author of a number of books on performance and training.

1. Bring the intensity

Don’t be the person in the gym who checks your phone between every set, breaking any intensity you could have established. Instead, work in a focused, continuous manner that stimulates muscle growth and fat burning. Leave the phone at home or in a locker. Instead of resting between three sets of the same exercise, consider alternating an upper body pull (such as pull-ups) with an upper body push (push-ups) or a lower-body push (squats).  That way you keep yourself moving. There’s a reason CrossFit’s Opens a New Window.  philosophy of performing AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) of a workout circuit in the allotted time is so challenging—and effective.

2. Eat every three hours

Eating small meals more often regulates blood sugar, promotes muscle mass, and eliminates mood swings and overeating Opens a New Window. . The key is to plan ahead to make sure you have something healthy on hand at work or on-the-go so that you’re fueled every three hours. Ideally every meal will have a combination of carbs, protein, and fat. But if you’re on the go, at least aim for something healthy such as nuts, seeds, dried fruit, energy bars, or a ready-to-drink protein beverage.

3. Hop on the wagon

There’s nothing wrong with an occasional drink. But if you want to build muscle and burn fat, knock it off for 30 days to see dramatic results. Alcohol disrupts REM sleeps Opens a New Window. , packs on empty calories, increases the release of the stress hormone cortisol, and decreases protein synthesis for muscle fiber repair. Alcohol also diminishes water soluble vitamins required for hormones to do their work and decreases the body’s ability to recover. After 30 days without alcohol, you’ll likely see such dramatic results you’ll go longer. You can go 30 days, can’t you?

4. Get faster

Sprinters have the leanest, most powerful bodies. Yet we never equate the qualities we want—more muscle, a leaner body—with speed and explosive power. When you get faster, you improve your muscle size and power, the efficiency of your nervous system, and even your flexibility Opens a New Window. . To get faster, head to a track or soccer field and alternate 400-meter runs (at 80 percent effort) with 400-meter walks. Do a light half-mile run before and after four intervals. Already a runner? Lengthen the intervals to a half-mile or go by time (3 minutes on, 3 minutes off).

5. Mix up your workouts

Your body is a phenomenal compensator, adapting to the most punishing of workouts quickly. That’s why it’s important to mix things up, not only in the weight room but outside as well. If you’re a gym rat, take things outside at least once a week. Head to your local park and do a routine of pushups, dips, Burpees, and pull-ups. If you’re near a beach Opens a New Window. , do the routine in the sand for an added degree of difficulty. You’ll challenge your body from different angles, break the monotony of the gym, and breathe some fresh air.

6. Become a waterman

Swimmers, surfers Opens a New Window. , and stand-up paddleboarders often have the most chiseled physiques and that’s no coincidence. Water sports challenge your body in three planes of motion and usually involve high-intensity interval training. Even a leisurely swim or stand-up paddle can be tough if not done often. If you never learned to swim properly—meaning you can’t swim at least 200 yards in open water that’s at least eight feet deep—it’s time to learn.

7. Sleep it off

It’s difficult to build muscle and burn fat without adequate sleep—seven hours a night, preferably eight. Sleep is when most of your hormones, such as growth hormone and testosterone, are released. Fatigue, on the other hand, undermines your ability to eat right and train hard, thus raising your level of body fat. When you’re exhausted, your brain doesn’t know whether it’s sleep-deprived or starving for glucose, so it naturally craves sugar Opens a New Window. , which is what causes late-night cravings when you’re tired. Without adequate sleep, you’re sabotaging your efforts to build muscle and burn fat.
